Spring Softball with Surf and Sun
The Surf and Sun Softball League of Long Beach/Orange County announce the beginning of the Spring Ball 2010 playing season. This year Spring Ball will begin with an open invitation to a “Play Day” for all who are interested in learning the game and meeting others in the community with a desire to play softball.
Open “Play Day” is scheduled for Feb. 28 at Boisseranc Park, 7520 Dale St., Buena Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Play-Day is open to everyone at no cost. The Spring season runs March 21-June 20.
The Surf and Sun Softball League provides members of the Long Beach/Orange County GLBT community an opportunity to participate in the game of softball in an atmosphere of non-discrimination and friendship. All levels of competition are available from the very skilled to those who have never played before in Men’s (Open) and Women’s divisions.
Meeting new people and having fun while learning to play is one of the league’s primary goals. Don’t be shy; players are needed at all levels, in both divisions. New teams are forming!
The Spring Ball season which is more structured and competitive determines which teams in each division will represent the Surf and Sun Softball League at the NAGAAA and ASANA Gay Softball World Series (GSWS). This NAGAAA GSWS 2010 will be in Columbus, Ohio in August and the ASANA World Series will be in Las Vegas in November.
Surf and Sun LB/OC is a member of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) and the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA) and has proudly served the Long Beach/Orange County GLBT community for over 30 years.
If you plan on joining us for “Play Day” we recommend bringing your favorite fielding glove, cleats (optional), hat and water.
